NEA Big Read Book Discussion: “The Bear” by Andrew Krivak
October 11, 2023, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM
NEA Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest, and is meant to broaden our understanding of our world, our communities, and ourselves through the power of a shared reading experience. As part of the Big Read, a scholar-led book discussion, facilitated by Mohamed Defaa, will be held at the Laconia Library on Wednesday, October 11 at 6:00 pm to discuss Andrew Krivak's "The Bear". Set in a post-apocalyptic future, The Bear is a story of the last two people on earth—a father and daughter. The novel explores powerful themes about the importance of intergenerational storytelling, our complicated relationship with the environment, and how to prepare for an unknown future. Copies of the book will be available at Laconia Library. Sign-up required. Call: (603) 524-4775 or email: info@laconialibrary.org to register.
